AFTER-CARE

After-care is provided by two different organizations this summer. SMMUSD's Child Development Services (CDS) department will run after-care for students entering TK-2nd grade, and Right at School (RAS) will provide after-care for students entering 3rd-6th grade.

After-care is SEPARATE from Summer Adventure. You must register separately for after-care. Since Summer Adventure is a separate program, Summer Adventure cannot offer refunds due to any potential after-care limitations.

Parents interested in after-care must complete the AFTER-CARE INTEREST FORM to get their name on the after-care list. Enrollment is limited and will be on a first-come, first-served basis, determined by the date you complete this form.

IMPORTANT: To best support families being able to sign up for Summer Adventure and also have time to get on the After-Care Interest Form, registration for Summer Adventure will open at 7:30am and the After-Care Interest Form will go live at 7:45am (there will be a link to the form on front page of this  website at 7:30am).

The CDS and RAS sign-up process will be coordinated through the same After-Care Interest Form, so families with multiple children can complete one submission.

AFTERCARE FOR STUDENTS ENTERING TK-2ND GRADE

After-care for this age group will be provided by CDS and will operate from 12:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. (NO before-school childcare will be available).

This program has a general schedule with a variety of activities throughout each day. Students will have access to arts and crafts, a variety of outdoor activities, and enriching indoor opportunities such as puzzles, games, blocks, and more. There is always a teacher and an assistant with the students. There will be time daily for students to eat lunch and snack (students must bring their lunch each day; CDS only provides a daily snack).

Program Fees:

$1,100 (includes a $100 non-refundable deposit)

CDS requires families to enroll for the full 5 weeks. No financial assistance will be available for childcare, with the exception of students who qualify for ELOP (qualifying information under the ELOP section).

A 50% refund ($500) will be available until May 1st. After this date, refunds will not be available as staffing and materials will be secured based on enrollment.

Families who are offered a childcare space through CDS will receive an email the week of April 13, 2026 from sap@smmusd.org with registration instructions, program details, and next steps to secure their space. Families who are not initially offered a space will be notified and placed on a waitlist.

For questions about CDS, please contact Terri Demuth, SAP@SMMUSD.org or call (310) 399-5865.

AFTER CARE FOR STUDENTS ENTERING 3RD-6TH GRADE

SMMUSD has partnered with Right At School (RAS) to support students entering 3rd through 6th grade. RAS after-care will operate from 12:30 PM – 6:00 PM. (No before-school care will be available.)

RAS programs include a balance of enrichment activities, outdoor active play, games, and opportunities for social skill-building and socialization. Our team maintains a ratio of 1 adult for every 15 students to ensure a safe, engaging, and supportive environment.

Students will have time daily for lunch and a snack. Students should bring their own lunch each day. RAS will provide a daily afternoon snack; however, families are welcome to pack additional snacks if preferred.

Program Fees:

$200 per week, plus a $50 non-refundable registration fee per student due at time of registration.

No financial assistance will be available for childcare, with the exception of students who qualify for ELOP (qualifying information under the ELOP section).

RAS has a refund deadline of May 1, 2026. After this date, refunds will not be available, as staffing and materials will be secured based on enrollment.

Families offered a space through RAS will receive an email the week of April 13, 2026 from Right At School (support@rightatschool.com) with registration instructions, program details, and next steps to secure their space. Families who are not initially offered a space will be notified and placed on a waitlist.
